The Scottish Orienteering Association is based at the National Orienteering Centre, Glenmore Lodge. As the Scottish Governing Body, the SOA represents the interests of orienteering clubs and members in Scotland, including assistance in the staging of events and the promotion and development of the sport. Orienteering events take place every weekend across the country, including forests and urban areas.
The website www.scottish-orienteering.org has links to local clubs as well as a list of events at different levels. The sport is suitable for all levels of ability and for all ages, with competitive classes for 10 to 90 year olds and other events for babies and toddlers. At the Elite level Scotland has excellent representation on the GB Team and in recent years staged the World Orienteering Championships. If you enjoy running or walking with a navigational challenge included orienteering might be just the sport for you.
