Wader Birds

Waders are birds that are found on wet fields and meadows at this time of year having return to the National Park to breed and raise chicks.
Strathspey has some of the highest densities of breeding waders anywhere in Scotland. Hundreds of lapwing, oystercatcher, snipe, redshank and curlew come to our farmlands and marshes to breed and in Spring we are still lucky to see and enjoy their beautiful songs and display flights.

It’s a wildlife experience to treasure and celebrate and we have created these great wader resources to use at home or in the classroom to learn and discover more about these amazing birds.
